5 feet wide, $40, and doesn’t protrude into rearward vision beyond 1/3" or so. I knew the Slamther was missing something.

So far I’ve tested it up to highway speeds and the back end seems more planted in high speed bends, so I guess it’s doing something other than looking neat.

It’s a lineage joke. Before the CV and LTD there was the Galaxie. The space shit is called “galaxy” print. It was also cheaper than black vinyl at the shop I bought it from.

I don’t really want to have to re-wire everything for carbs or TBI, so an Eaton would have to suffice, probably within the next two years.

The reverse lights are just those tiny squares. I used galaxy wrap to cover up the oxidized plasti-chrome trim on either side of each reverse light.

It’s rather dramatic in person, but doesn’t hamper usability one bit. For $40, I’d say 10/10.

That’s really cool. A few years back, I bought a wing (stock) for my Thunderbird, and what really impressed me about it was that it was barely visible in the rear-view mirror!

The rivets look good! They are sealed, right? Are you going to paint them? (I kinda like the unpainted look.)

Sealed from underneath with GE Silicone II (waterproof and mildew-resistant). They’ll stay unpainted and continue to change and weather over time.

It’s just a piece of sheet steel from Canadian Tire that’s made as a “door bottom” patch. $38 or so, IIRC. Comes pre-bent, just heat and scrape the stickers off, drill the holes, paint, and mount. It doesn’t conform to the decklid at first, you have to let it naturally bent to the curvature by riveting it on and letting it sit overnight. Then, drill out the old rivets and re-rivet so you no longer have fasteners that had to bear the stress of making a piece of metal conform to the decklid. Cheap, easy, and it seems to make the back end less floaty.

Have you considered painting those black plastic rocker covers body color for an even lower look? I’ve thought about getting some of those chrome wheel arch trim things for mine and painting them body color for a minor “wide body” flared fender look.

I mean, I’ll throw new shocks on for the trip just in case (my front left corner is starting to feel ever so slightly springier than usual), but yeah. Maybe slightly stiffer rear springs for a more even ride height when loaded, but that’s about it.

The plan for the rocker covers is to modify the existing ones to be more vertical by just layering up fiberglass. That will come either after or around the same time I make the plug, mold, and lay up the front air dam.

It won’t peel off with a plastic razor blade and I don’t want to take a heat gun to it in case I bubble the clear. Plus, it’s hilarious having a sticker that says “good used cars” on a barely-muffled, sorta-slammed, winged, zip-tied 20 year old RWD V8 hooptie.
